On which commit/branch are you (git rev-parse HEAD)? I would recommend to stay on rel/stable, i.e., git checkout rel/stable, and verify there is no leftover files (git status).

Yes, you need to add to your PATH not only the /usr/local/go/bin but also $GOPATH/bin, that is the folder where logfilter is installed. If $GOPATH is not defined, it is by default $HOME/go. Best is to check whether the folder you add to the PATH contains logfilter.
