Stateful and stateless contracts were renamed to just “Smart contracts” for stateful and “Smart signatures” for stateless since this is closer to the industry standard definitions for these tools. They’re definitely still in use and not “outdated”.
Thus, Stateful and Stateless have essentially been retired to the archives because they failed to achieve any significant transactional function and were highly susceptible to hacks.
