# How to add a layer of authorization for protected content?

Hi everyone 👋. I was building a smart contract and was curious about **how to add a layer of authorization**. Take the following scenario:

1. There are many users on the platform.
2. Users **write** articles, some are free and some are paid.
3. Other users **see** the articles. But to access the paid articles they need to have an **active subscription**.

How do I protect the paid articles, and allow only the members with an active subscription to access them? Thank you. 🙂
