# Incentive for participation

As we know an online user gets rewards even if they don’t participate. So, why would a node be willing to participate in the consensus?

As far as I’m aware there are no rewards for running a participation node, in or out of consensus, unless being used in a liquid DeFi vault for Governance (the current active staking model on Algorand) such as AlgoFi or soon Folks Finance.
