# Installing a Node on FreeBSD and OpenBSD?

The page [Introduction - Installing a Node](https://developer.algorand.org/docs/introduction-installing-node) only mentions Mac, Ubuntu and Other Linux Distros and I’m wondering if it’s possible to run a node on FreeBSD and OpenBSD as well.
I’m not a FreeBSD or OpenBSD user (yet), but I’m evaluating their use, so this could be of interest.

Our current releases are not targeting these operating systems. You might want to see if you could get a docker container running on these platforms.

Neither FreeBSD nor OpenBSD support docker natively, but using virtualization on FreeBSD would be an acceptable workaround.
Nonetheless, supporting FreeBSD and OpenBSD natively clearly would be beneficial for the cause because these two operating systems are predestined to run on dedicated servers, VPS or cloud services.
