Abstract
Algokit IDE is an all-in-one, browser-based development environment for building, deploying, and running Algorand smart contracts — without any local setup. Powered by WebContainers, it allows developers to write and interact with PyTEAL, Beaker, and TealScript contracts directly in their browser.
The goal is to reduce the friction for developers, especially beginners, who face setup challenges. Algokit IDE includes a library of pre-coded contracts that users can explore, edit, and deploy — making it a powerful educational and prototyping tool for the Algorand ecosystem.
With this grant request, we seek funding to continue development and create a high-quality explainer video that demonstrates the use and benefits of Algokit IDE.
Team
Nivesh – Founder and Developer
A passionate Algorand developer and open-source contributor.
Focused on solving developer experience issues in the Algorand ecosystem and simplifying the smart contract onboarding process.
Experience with Algorand
The team has:

Present Proposal
We will:
- Continue development on Algokit IDE, enhancing performance and features
- Expand the library of pre-coded contracts (DAOs, NFTs, etc.)
- Add support for collaboration and multi-user editing
- Produce an explainer video covering:
- Writing smart contracts in the browser
- Deploying to testnet directly
- Using and modifying templates
- How Algokit IDE improves Algorand onboarding
Benefits for the Community
- Zero-setup Algorand dev experience
- Accessible platform for beginners to experiment and learn
- Open-source contribution to ecosystem tooling
- Boosts developer retention by lowering initial complexity
- Enables workshops, tutorials, and hackathons with zero local setup required
